World Wellness Science Teacher

Public Health Teacher

I am from Pasadena and Los Angeles, CA.  I am a proud graduate of John Muir High School - go Mustangs! - and UCLA - go Bruins! I am constantly in awe of how sophisticated World Wellness Science is!  Indigenous people around the world have been developing medicine systems that far surpass our biomedical mainstream’s understanding of holistic healing in many ways and are very much complemented by Conventional Medicine in other ways.  I was not exposed to these systems in academic, truthful and respectful ways until college and the exposure was minimal at best. After experiencing the medicine firsthand abroad and then studying and practicing holistic medicine in CA for over 20 years, I was excited about the opportunity to teach a class that would begin to expose high school students to this broad framework of science, especially as it relates to public health. I love learning from and with our students.  I love getting to explore various methods people are using to take better care of themselves and our environment.  I enjoy Highlighting the work that the National Institute of Health, Harvard, Yale, John Hopkins, UCLA and other medical schools are doing around better understanding holisticMedicine and coupling it with the work that indigenous healers globally are doing to continue and expand this work.  I love fostering safe spaces for students to learn, grow, express, connect and BE!
